Description

From my small camera collection is this 1890 model J. Lancaster and Son, Extra Special model camera, in full plate size, 6 1/2 x 8 1/2". These are pretty hard to find as they were the top of the line model at the time. The camera is in nice condition and has plenty of movements which work well. The original bellows are flexible, but do have some light leaks. I believe they can be repaired or just shoot with your dark cloth over the bellows like I have. The back is reversible for portrait and landscape orientation. Sometime in it's life the lens board was opened up to a larger size, so the lens barrel is helped by some gaff tape on the back to keep it in place. Of course, with a slighly larger lens, this is not an issue, although it works well as it is. The Busch brass barrel lens is an f/8 rapid rectilinear/aplanat type, clean glass with a smooth aperture and includes the original leather lens cap. Included with the camera are 2 original J. Lancaster book type plate holders and a pair of Kodak film sheaths. Shoot plates or film as desired. I'm sad to let this one go, but my start in Ultra Large Format has kept me busy. An advertisement from 1890 shows the camera and the last photo is a sample shot, made a few days ago. Tripod not included. Thank you for looking. No returns please.
